Careers at TCS
The Company
TCS Computer Services Limited is a small, but lively
and expanding, software company,
with a variety of interesting work in different software environments.
Being an established software house, our work encompasses both development
of new systems and re-engineering existing systems to run in modern environments.
We are an equal opportunities employer and look for
both male and female staff from a variety of
backgrounds. We recruit one or two people a year and experienced recruits can
fast-track to senior levels within a couple of years.
Graduates typically progress to
analyst programmer within 15 months or thereabouts and then perhaps to senior
level, with increasing responsibility at each stage.
We are proud of our
staff development and as an example our longest serving employee joined
us straight from University in 1996.
The Benefits
There is active management interest in individual
staff performance and career progression at TCS which is
judged upon the demonstration of adherence to standards
and a structured approach to work wherever possible.
As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner TCS are
committed to providing up to one day per week training
to ensure that all our staff achieve at least MCP
certification level.
As well as strong career guidance, mentoring and
technical training, we offer a number of other benefits:
- Free Life assurance.
- Company Stakeholder pension scheme.
- Clean, fresh and safe working environment.
- Secure parking.
- Flexible working hours around a set of core
hours.
- Performance related bonuses.
There are also nearby local amenities and Bexley
Heath town centre is just a 5 minute drive away.
We pay competitive market salaries and provide quarterly reviews in the first year.
Thereafter, annual reviews acknowledge individuals' growing value.
The Work

New recruits join one of several teams developing applications
using Microsoft SQL Server with .NET. Teams are small, usually consisting
of a senior technical specialist and one programmer. You will have the opportunity
of both on job and interactive Multimedia training whilst being quickly
involved in real work.
Our staff work is customer driven and our objective is customer satisfaction.
This often brings our staff into direct contact with end users, because
we are a service company, not a product orientated company.
A variety of software is used, but we specialise in the use of SQL Server
and .NET.
We use both Crystal Reports and Reporting Services and Microsoft Analysis Services is used for OLAP reporting.
Whilst our principle activities are Microsoft based, we
select software tools to serve our customers and, when required,
we work with software they have selected.
The work is often challenging and we want people who are good at wrestling
with problems and motivated to find solutions.
The Opportunities
We require both experienced and newly qualified computer science graduates who have Microsoft experience
coupled with an aptitude for computer programming and a desire to learn
new software environments.
Applicants should be graduated in a 1st class or 2:1
Computer Science related degree and be based, or looking
to relocate, within easy commuting distance from our
offices in Bexley, Kent.
