iReport.NET, a Bespoke Report ViewerIntroduction
Developed by TCS, iReport.NET is a browser based application which simplifies the publishing, viewing and administration of bespoke reports developed using Microsoft Visual Studio. It's purpose is to serve as a container for many types of content that you may want to publish on your intranet and control access to via user/group security. Think of iReport.NET as a stepping stone to allow you to explore the potential for publishing targeted web content to many users without the significant investment that products like Microsoft SharePoint Server require. ModulesThe following diagram provides an overview of the various iReport.NET modules and their relation to other Client and 3rd Party systems. All items are part of the iReport.NET system with the exception of item 6 which is the database which iReport.NET accesses and is already owned and operated by the client.
1. Secure Access
An administration facility is provided for configuring iReport.NET. User and Group Security, Menu Permissions and Report Access can also be set in the Admin Pages. 2. Flexible Criteria
The power of iReport.NET is revealed with it's flexibility of applying criteria to report data. Once applied, the criteria can be saved on the menu ready to be used at a later time. 3. Dynamic Reports
iReport.NET is not just a 'static' report generator. The format, grouping, columns and sorting of each report template can be configured by the user. Also reports can be linked to allow 'Drill Down' of data from one report to another to reveal further detail. 4. Excel Export
iReport.NET provides one-click Excel export to allow you to modify and manipulate your data in greater detail. 5. iReport.NET SQL DatabaseThe iReport.NET SQL Server database is the repository for your saved Criteria and Reports and also contains the configuration settings and security permissions. 6. Example Data SourceFor instance, you could configure iReport.NET to extract data from your Accounts Database, e.g. Sun Accounts, and use your various Analysis fields as criteria for building your reports. DownloadA 10 day trial version is available for download from our support website. The download contains a Windows Installer file which you run on your webserver. The installation installs the iReport.NET intranet website. It also installs the SQL database on a server of your choice.
